On our first date, Scott told me he was a strict vegetarian for moral reasons. I told him I was not and asked if it would bother him if I ate meat in front of him. He assured me it would not as long as I didn’t ask him to eat any. We seemed to come to a happy agreement, so we went to dinner together. I ordered a steak, thinking it wouldn’t bother him. When it arrived, he looked at me with the saddest face and asked me if I had ever met a cow. Then he said the cow I was eating had thoughts and feelings before it had been brutally killed for me. He actually had tears in his eyes. I told him I admired his passion, but we definitely didn’t belong together. -- Nadine, 32
