Joyce and I went to high school together, but never really got to know each other. In the local college in town, we both had a class together and sat next to each other. She seemed smart and pretty, so I was definitely interested. I invited her to lunch at the cafeteria; not fancy, but the best I could do on my limited budget. I bought her meal and we sat and talked for about a half hour. She then stood up, said, “Thanks for the free meal, loser!” and bolted out the door. What a piece of work. -- Jared, 20
