Is It Time to Take a Break?

By Terrey L. Hatcher

So you’re disappointed in the opposite sex. You’re disappointed in how your last few relationships have worked out. And you’re tired of trying and failing. You tell your friends you’re done. You’re just going to plan on being alone for the rest of your life.

Well, let’s face it—you’re not really going to do that, are you? But maybe you should plan on being alone for a little while.

Awesome Alone
If you’re feeling fed up with the partners you’ve had in the past, maybe you need some time to focus on you. Focus on building your life up in new ways. Focus on being more you alone and less you as part of a couple.

Why? Because it could be good for you in more ways than one.

Focusing on what you want and who you want to be will put you on a path to more satisfaction. It’s also likely to make you happier with the life you have right now and can create in the future on your own, rather than staying tuned into the life you think you want to have with a partner.

Refocusing on new goals can also put you in novel situations with a fresh group of people. And those people are likely to care about some of the same things you do.

Fresh Friends
Now use that brain of yours…what is that likely to get you? Yes! New friends. And some of those friends may just share some common—or uncommon—interests with you and have a similar outlook on life.

Meeting new people brings you more possibilities for friendship. And making new friends opens up other possibilities for new experiences in your life.

If those friends happen to be of the opposite sex, then you just might make more than a friend. But even if they aren’t, they’ll know people that they can introduce you to.

It’s a pretty easy win-win situation. You don’t lose anything by trying something new that you think will move you more toward your happy place. And you might even gain some of the best friends or lovers of your life.
