She’s probably super sexy, thin and curvy, with great teeth, beautiful eyes and hair just the color you like best. She’s flirty, fun and social, but not too talkative, right?

What other qualities does your dream girl have? I bet she’s an amazing cook and decent at cleaning, but not a nag about it. Maybe she doesn’t mind watching sports occasionally but also doesn’t mind if you go off with your buddies on game day either.

She’s got good fashion sense, but also good financial sense. She’s independent, but affectionate. She’s not high maintenance but looks like she is. She’s smart, but also smart enough to keep her mouth shut sometimes instead of being a know-it-all.

What’s in a Match?
Your dream girl probably has some other qualities that make her super special and superbly matched to you. Of course you expect to share some of the same interests, right?

So, let’s think about all those qualities in one woman. She’d really have to be amazing, wouldn’t she?

Here’s your wake-up call! If you’re too focused on this dream girl and feel like no woman you’ve met so far can measure up, you might want to adjust your perspective a bit. Think about the flip side for a minute. If you could find a woman who was so wonderful, what do you think she’d be looking for in her man?

She’d have her own list of dream qualities. He’d have a great smile and strong shoulders. He’d be sensitive, but manly. Decisive, but not overbearing. Loving, but not clingy. A good communicator. Super fit. Financially well off. He could handle mowing the lawn and doing his own laundry. He’d cook up a storm. He’d have a great sense of humor. Friendly.

You both could go on and on listing your soul mate’s dream qualities. The problem with that is you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. The woman who’s right for you isn’t going to be perfect. You’re not perfect, are you?

Ready for a Surprise?
She’s going to have some of the qualities that you think you’re looking for, and some that will surprise you. She’s going to be unique and have her own special quirks. She’s going to appreciate you for your special qualities too!

So if you get too fixated on a certain type of female that you’re looking for, then you’re in danger of continually hunting instead of getting to know the woman right in front of you. You might find that she has some amazing talents that you don’t notice at first glance.

Just Look in Her Eyes
Your true love actually might turn out to be quite different from what you imagine. She might be tinier or larger than your fantasy girl. She might be from a different part of the country, or even a different country altogether. She might have different color hair and eyes. But when she’s looking at you, it’s the look in her eyes that counts!

If you can put aside your superficial vision and be open to the imperfect possibilities, you just might find your real-live happily-ever-after ending. So stop dreaming and start dating!
