What He Thinks/She Thinks About Love, Sex, and Who's to Blame
A study from the University of Chicago has found that finding love is actually harder in big urban areas than elsewhere, despite the larger pool of eligible singles. We wondered if finding love is a matter of where you're looking.
We asked He and She: is it easier finding love in a big city or a small town?
He Says:
Dating in a large city can play tricks on your expectations. There are so many smart, attractive women out there that, even once you've landed one, you can't help but wonder if you couldn't do even better. Even presented with a bevy of beauties at your favorite hotspot, sometimes you wonder if you're missing something great, just because there are so many other places you could be. Presented with so many choices, it's easy to feel romantically overwhelmed.
She Says:
Sure, I may have a better handle on who's in the dating pool in my small town, but the problem is that I've known all those guys since junior high. That well ran dry long ago. Fortunately, online dating makes geography a non-issue. It draws from a wider dating pool, but feels like a smaller community. Plus, you can weed out the guys who don't appeal to you or don't share in your interests. You may find that the perfect person for you was right down the street of your small town - or in the big city.
