Get Over It
What He Thinks/She Thinks About Love, Sex, and Who's to Blame
Relationships can be so easy to fall into...but so hard to get out of. And getting over them completely? Well, that's hardest of all. Do men and women suffer equally, or does one gender pay a higher price when it comes to healing with heartbreak?
We ask He and She: Who bounces back faster from relationships? Men or women?
He Says:
Men are absolutely the first to jump into bed with a rebound. You won't see us sitting around nursing our wounds for weeks on end, drowning our sorrows in ice cream and bad made-for-TV movies. We probably started dating someone else as soon as there was even a hint that a breakup was on the horizon; we're that opposed to wallowing in misery. Does that mean we're over it faster in any real, emotional sense? Probably not.
She Says:
I think men "move on" faster - to their own detriment. It only seems like they're over the heartache because their method of dealing with being dumped is to act like it was no big deal. And then they try to stoke their egos by hooking up with someone new. In the end, I think women are ready to move on sooner - for real. Unlike men, they've dealt with the past enough to enter the future...instead of just jumping into a rebound situation that, most likely, means ultimately having to deal with two failed relationships instead of just the one.
