I contracted meningitis about a year ago and as a result, they had to amputate both legs and one arm below the elbow. Life's been very difficult since. My wife left me about four months after I came home. Trying to do things takes a lot of time and a lot of learning. In a way, I'm sort of glad my wife left me. This way, I don't have to listen to her mother any more. What a pain in the butt. Anyhow, I'm learning how to function with prosthetics and it's getting better every day. I have a new girlfriend who loves me for who I am and not what I don't have. -Liam, 28
