Iron Maiden crack down on ticket touts for U.K. tour
Rockers Iron Maiden have implemented a series of measures in a bid to fight ticket touts for their upcoming U.K. tour.
The heavy metal stars are reportedly due to announce the dates of their 2017 U.K. tour, their first tour in four years, on Friday (23Sep16) and ahead of the sale, they have vowed to protect fans from touts, who buy tickets at the regular price and resell them on secondary websites for a heavily inflated cost.
All tickets will be paperless, making them harder to be resold, only four tickets maximum can be bought by one person for any venue, the buyer must show photo identification and their credit card when they arrive at the gig and tickets bought by touts will be canceled and put back on sale.
“We do not want our fans being ripped off either by counterfeit tickets or through costly mark-ups on so called secondary ticketing websites," Iron Maiden’s manager Rod Smallwood said in a statement.
“These problems now affect the UK more than any other country outside of the US... We are also instigating a number of additional measures which we believe will directly help our fans to access tickets in the fairest, safest way and at the intended price.”
They had previously tested paperless ticketing on U.S. tours.
