Oscar winner Alexandre Desplat quits Star Wars for Luc Besson's new movie
Movie composer Alexandre Desplat has dropped out of scoring the new Star Wars movie to focus on Luc Besson's Valerian.
The Oscar winner dropped out as the composer of Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One, due to scheduling issues, and he was quickly replaced by Michael Giacchino.
Now it has emerged Luc Besson may have tempted Desplat away after the maestro has revealed he's now working on music for the director's Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, a new sci-fi.
Besson made the big announcement via social media on Tuesday (20Sep16), writing: "Sadly the composer Alexandre Desplat have to leave the 'Black Star' (sic)… but he find a new home in 'the city of a thousand planets'. Welcome on board of Valerian maestro!!!!"
