Gene Simmons' son: 'He's the Donald Trump of rock'
Gene Simmons' son Nick has likened the rocker to U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump, because they both frequently make controversial comments.
The KISS musician often courts controversy with his remarks, most recently calling Prince's death "pathetic", and on Monday (19Sep16) he once again caused offense by telling TMZ.com police should profile people more following the bombings in New York and New Jersey this month (Sep16).
The Israel-born rocker said, "I’m OK (with profiling). I want you to stop me first. I want you to stop me because I look a certain way. And if I’m clear, than profile (someone else). It’s emergency powers during war. There’s a war going on," adding it was "too bad" if people felt violated by profiling.
In response to the comments, his son Nick compared him to the Republican politician, who also causes offense with his remarks. He told TMZ.com, "He's the f**king Donald Trump of rock. I can't take it anymore... I can't wait to talk to him about this. It's gonna be a f**king conversation. My mum's gonna hit him over the head."
He also tried to defend his dad by insisting he isn't racist but just wants authorities to do "whatever it takes" to crack down on terrorism because he feels like America is "paradise" compared to his beginnings in Israel. Nick added that Gene is "terrified of anyone taking away this amazing place that he's found. He made it."
