Arnold Schwarzenegger named recipient of 2016 Adweek Brand Visionary Award

Arnold Schwarzenegger is to be honored with the Brand Visionary Award at the upcoming Adweek Brand Geniuses Gala.

The actor and politician will follow past recipients like Russell Simmons and Bono when he collects his latest accolade in New York City in October (16).

Among the other "masterminds of marketing" who will be feted at the gala: Estee Lauder boss Jane Lauder and CEOs for Jet Blue and AirBnB, while Jeep boss Olivier Francois will become the first return winner after previously picking up honors for his Chrysler 'Imported from Detroit' campaign in 2012.

Announcing Arnie's latest honor, an Adweek spokesman says, "Arnold Schwarzenegger has been named Brand Visionary for 2016 and will accept his honor at the gala. Brand Visionary acknowledges and celebrates a career’s worth of achievement in creating a world-renowned brand. Schwarzenegger’s personal reinvention and brand brilliance led him to the top spot this year.

"He joins an elite group of Visionaries that include 2015 honoree Arianna Huffington, Bono, Russell Simmons and Michael Bloomberg."
