Tom Odell in talks to join The Voice U.K. - report
Tom Odell is reportedly in talks to join The Voice U.K. as a judge.
The singer-songwriter is the latest musician British TV network ITV is apparently trying to persuade to join the judging panel of the singing competition, after it poached the show from the rival network BBC.
According to Britain's The Sun newspaper, producers are keen to get Tom on board to bring in a younger audience.
"Producers want the show to be a big success in its first year on ITV," a source told the publication. "They have had a number of discussions with him, but have spoken to others as well. It’s not a done deal yet but they’d love to have him on board.”
Earlier this year (16), it was reported Tom Jones could be set for a triumphant return to the judging panel after he was publicly sacked from the show last year (15), and replaced by Boy George.
will.i.am has also confirmed he will be back as a judge, while Paloma Faith and Ricky Wilson have ruled themselves out of returning to the show when it airs on ITV next year (17).
A spokesperson for ITV told Digital Spy: "Any rumors surrounding the coaching line up is pure speculation, and we will be confirming our coaches in due course."
Odell, who won the BRITs Critics' Choice Award in 2013 and the Ivor Novello award in 2014 for Songwriter of the Year, is allegedly seen as the perfect choice by show bosses to bring a much-needed younger audience to The Voice UK.
If he signs on the dotted line, Tom could be judging alongside U.S. superstar Jennifer Hudson, who is reportedly near to completing a deal to take her place in the final red revolving judges chair.
The Voice U.K. is expected to air on ITV in early 2017.
