Damian Marley opening marijuana dispensary

Stoner icon Damian Marley is opening a marijuana dispensary in Colorado.

The son of late reggae icon Bob Marley is teaming up with bosses at Colorado-based dispensary company Tru Cannabis to open Stony Hill, according to Billboard.com. The dispensary will launch next week (begs19Sep16) and will feature products including different strains of marijuana, edibles and extracts.

Recreational marijuana was legalized in the state in 2014 and Marley is thrilled he was able to see the law passed.

"I didn't know in my lifetime I'd be opening a dispensary," he tells Billboard. "We've always been advocates of legalising marijuana and we always had the hope in our lifetime that we'd be involved in something like this, but I didn't predict this would happen."

The store is named after an area in Jamaica where the 38-year-old spent his childhood.

"Stony Hill is a place in Jamaica I grew up so it has a lot of significance," he says.

Marley is planning to delve further into the cannabis business and will be hosting a launch party at Denver's Field House when the dispensary opens on 22 September (16).

He isn't the only musician to cash in on the legalization of pot - The Game recently became a co-owner of a California dispensary, while Snoop Dogg also boasts his own line of cannabis products and strains.
