Bill Murray turns bartender at son's new restaurant

Veteran actor Bill Murray is getting ready to work behind the bar at his son's new New York restaurant.

The Groundhog Day star, 65, will work shifts on Friday (16Sep16) and Saturday (17Sep16) at the new 21 Greenpoint restaurant in Brooklyn. The eatery is co-owned by the actor's son Homer.

And the younger Murray says that despite his father being an actor rather than a barman by trade, he's more than capable of keeping diners well refreshed.

"We want people to come and have fun,'' he tells the dining website Eater. "People can walk in; just be nice. What my dad lacks in experience, he makes up for in tequila.''

Homer's previous venture with his business partner Syd Silver, River Styx, closed last month (Aug16). They're now launching 21 Greenpoint on the same site.

According to editors at Time Out New York, Bill's shifts behind the bar will begin at 7pm each night.
