TV's Wyatt Earp dies at 91

The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp star Hugh O'Brian has died at the age of 91.

The actor passed away on Monday (05Sep16) at his home in Beverly Hills, California, according to officials at his youth leadership group, the Hugh O'Brian Youth organization.

O'Brian began his acting career onstage after serving as a Marine Corps instructor during World War Two, and he landed early roles in TV shows Broken Lance and There's No Business Like Show Business.

His big break came in 1955, when he was cast as the famed lawman of the American West in the series The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp. The show ran for six seasons until 1961, and earned O'Brian an Emmy nomination in 1957.

He later reprised the role of Earp for a cameo in 1994's Wyatt Earp: Return To Tombstone movie.

He also made guest appearances in TV shows Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, and Charlie's Angels, while his film credits include Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito comedy Twins, Bruce Lee's Game of Death in 1978, and 1976's The Shootist, which became John Wayne's final film.
