Meredith Vieira wants us to know she's neither Democrat nor
Republican (the latter a fact that shouldn't surprise many). She's an independent, she says.
She thinks it's funny "that each side has thought I've gone after them unfairly. The fact is I've pissed off both sides. When I interviewed the President, the Democrats wanted to know why I was so tough on him, the Republicans thought I was too liberal."
She wants us to know, "In terms of voting I don't have much use for either party, but I do take voting seriously, and I study issue by issue."
Regarding President Obama's many and varied efforts toward reform, from domestic matters including health care to international affairs -- and debate over whether he has too much on his plate -- Vieira does note, "Certainly, there are people who feel the President spreads himself too thin. Some feel he should spend more time in the Oval Office, others thank God he's not out of touch with the American people.
"I do know he came in with so many issues on his plate that had to be addressed immediately. There could be a method in the madness but I don't have a dog in this fight," she says. "It is what it is."
