CELEB INSIDER: Turner Withholding Pen for Now
Kathleen Turner turned heads last year with her memoir "Send Yourself Roses: Thoughts on my Life, Love, and Leading Roles," which even caused her to have to apologize to Nicolas Cage for claiming he had been arrested twice for DUI. While many people did find inspiration from the book, especially when she talked about her serious bouts with rheumatoid arthritis, Turner tells us it will be a while before she puts pen to paper again.

"It took me about 30 years to gather up enough material for that. Maybe in another 30," she says about writing another book. "I did this book with a woman named Gloria Feldt. We had worked together for years. She was president of the Planned Parenthood Association of the United States and I was on the board.

"I got to know her very well. She's the one who convinced me to do the memoirs," recalls Turner. "I really thought she had the hardest job, because basically every word in the book is mine, but what we did is sit down and think for hours and hours of stories, thoughts, purposes, what I've learned. She got stuck putting it into some sort of order. My mind just doesn't work that way, so I was very grateful to her."

In the end, Turner says she was very happy with how the book turned out and she hopes people will continue to get something positive from it. "I've heard a great deal from people. It's been very moving. I've heard people say they laughed out loud and I love making people laugh.

"I got a lot of response about having the fight against rheumatoid arthritis. There's a lot of pain with that," she notes. "It's very hard to live in chronic pain and I think a lot of people appreciated me talking about it in my book and felt empathy with that."
