Kyle Chandler reveals that some big changes are in store on "Friday Night Lights." As coach Taylor in the critically-acclaimed show that has never drawn the audience it deserves, his character makes the switch to East Dillon High, a dilapidated school on the wrong side of the tracks. And the switch, he says, will be complicated.
Definitely on the boards for the new season that kicks off on DirecTv Oct. 28 and on NBC next year will be a new quarterback who will act as a rival for Matt (Zach Gilford). Also staying aboard is Connie Britton as the wife and Aimee Teegarden as the daughter. And, returning are Tim Riggins (Taylor Kitsch) Lyla Garrity (Minka Kelly), plus Julie Taylor (Aimee Teegarden) and Landry Clarke (Jesse Plemons).
And, being added to the show as an integral member of the newly-formed East Dillion team is Vince (Michael B. Jordan, from "All My Children"). Other newcomers include Jess (Jurnee Smollett) and
15-year-old beauty queen Becky (newcomer Madison Burge).
With all those changes, most anything can happen, says Kyle. The new team he heads, he points out, "Won't have the financial backing or boosters club my team's used to. I have to start a new fooball program without money or support."
But, he stresses he welcomes the challenges and changes.
"It's great having a lot of obstacles," he says. "They make for great
storytelling." And, he's convinced, "For us, it's going to be like a
Phoenix rising from the ashes."
